The Challenge
The concept required a massive mascot bursting through multiple interior locations, but no homeowner was excited about letting a seven-foot razor demolish their kitchen. The production also needed each wall break to land perfectly on cue while maintaining the comedic rhythm of the spot.
That meant designing breakaway environments that could safely collapse on impact while still looking realistic on camera, all within the tight timing demands of a commercial shoot.
Production Approach
Instead of searching for locations that could survive the destruction, Rowdy built the environments from scratch. The Denver production team constructed full interior sets designed specifically for controlled breakaways, with practical effects walls rigged to collapse on cue using air cannons and carefully timed stunt choreography.
By combining practical set construction with tight editorial pacing, the production was able to capture the chaotic energy of the concept while keeping every crash controlled, repeatable, and camera-ready.
Outcome
The finished commercial quickly became one of Manscaped’s most recognizable campaigns, earning millions of views online and standing out the brand’s highest-performing spot on Youtube. The Chairman-Man character became an instant fan favorite, proving that bold creative and practical production can turn a product launch into a memorable brand moment.
